From Kentuky

I asked a woman about my college-day's lover.

She answered quickly and only,
"She has children, in Kentuky."
First, I took it to mean simply,
"She's beyond your reach."

So vain.
Listen more.
She's complete - the lover,
as complete as the answer.

She has children.
There's a man.
There's family and more.
She's complete in Kentuky.

I asked. She answered with life.
I asked. She showed me love.
It's a woman's answer.
Direct, correct, about Kentuky.
